POSITION TITLE:        Speech Pathologist                                  

 

FLSA:                           Exempt Professional

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                          

• Graduate from an ASHA approved program in speech pathology.  
• Appropriate state teacher certification as a speech pathologist.

• Experience in the public school setting preferred.                                                                            

REPORTS TO:              Director of Special Services/Building Principal

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Teacher calendar days and benefits provided according to Board policy.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Administer articulation and developmental assessments to determine eligibility for special services.
2. Knowledge of EdPLan and state policies and procedures.
3. Collaborate with building and support staff throughout the district to meet the needs of students.
4. Scheduel IEP meetings with parents and teachers.
5. Conduct individual or group therapy groups for goal attainment. 
6. Collaborate with outside agencies, parents and teachers to meet the need of students.
7. Review student records for the screening and evaluation process of students.
8. Provide group and individual lessons for appropriate development.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Be a member of the building level diagnostic team on assessments of all students who are suspected to have disabilities. 
2. Strong communication skills are needed to be effective with parents and teachers.
3. Other duties as assigned by the administration.
